Nikolaos Apergis

is a recognized economist with extensive academic and research experience in applied macroeconomics, macrofinance, and energy and environmental economics. He is ranked among the top 2% of the most cited scientists worldwide according to the Stanford University/Elsevier database and is listed among the top 10% of economists in Europe according to Research Papers in Economics (RePEc).

He is the author of more than 260 articles published in prestigious international journals, including Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of International Money & Finance, Energy Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Finance Research Letters, Energy Policy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Journal of Business Research. His h-index of 68 demonstrates his outstanding publication record and the international impact of his research.

Professor Nikolaos Apergis has held numerous important academic and managerial positions. He served as Dean of the School of Finance and Statistics at the University of Piraeus (2016–2018), Head of the Department of Banking and Financial Management (2008–2012), and Deputy Head of the same department (2007–2009). At the same university, he was a member of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Budget Committee (2012–2014). Previously, he was Chair of the Department of International Economics at the University of Macedonia (2003–2005) and Member of the Board and Chair of the Budget Committee of the Hellenic Stock Exchange Group (Athens Stock Exchange, 2003–2006). Outside academia, he served as a Board Member of the Independent Corporation of Energy Distribution (2012–2014) and Eurobank Factoring (2013–2016).

Nikolaos Apergis has received several prestigious research grants and awards, including:

Nikolaos also serves as Associate Editor of Energy Economics and The Open Economics Journal and is a member of the editorial boards of numerous journals, including International Advances of Economic Research, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Economics and Business Letters, International Journal of Economic Sciences and Applied Research, International Journal of Finance and Banking Studies, International Journal of Sustainable Economies Management, China-ASEAN Integration and Trade Journal, and International Journal of Energy Economics and Policy. He is a member of several professional associations, including the American Economic Association, Atlantic Economic Association, European Economic Association, Academy of Economics and Finance, Greek Financial Association, and Asia-Pacific Applied Economics Association.
