This study focuses on a professional analysis and forecast of the impacts associated with the construction of new nuclear power sources in the Czech Republic, assuming significant participation by Czech entities. A key responsibility of political leadership is to ensure a secure and comfortable future for the population through long-term and systematic efforts—an objective that cannot be achieved without energy security and sustainability. At the same time, it is crucial to respond adequately to the evolving consumption patterns and implement necessary structural changes. Modern society is increasingly consumer-oriented, which places additional pressure on energy demand and infrastructure. Nuclear energy represents one of the most effective solutions to meet this growing demand. It also offers a unique opportunity to significantly and efficiently reduce carbon emissions and limit dependence on fossil fuels. Using fiscal multipliers, the study quantifies the potential economic impacts of expanding nuclear capacity through the addition of two new units at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic. This comprehensive study provides an overview of energy sources and electricity consumption in the Czech Republic. It focuses on the structure of the energy mix, including the share of renewable and non-renewable sources, and examines the evolution of electricity production and consumption from 1990 to 2023. The analysis includes not only electricity generation, but also transmission losses and export balances. It also addresses the issue of electricity storage. ![]() Evaluation of a Survey on Motivations and Reasons Behind Energy Savings by Czech Households During the Energy Crisis of 2022–2023 |
This upcoming study analyses the motivations and reasons that led Czech households to reduce their energy consumption during the energy crisis of 2022 and 2023. Based on an extensive questionnaire survey conducted on a representative sample of households, it examines how various social and economic factors influenced decisions to limit energy use. The research accounts for sociodemographic characteristics such as age, education, household size, and employment status to provide an accurate understanding of consumer behaviour across different segments. The aim is to identify which specific expenses households saved on the most, and how the energy crisis changed their approach to financial reserves and family budget management. The study identifies the primary motivations behind household expenditure reductions—ranging from purely economic reasons such as cost-cutting efforts, to ecological and moral motivations tied to more sustainable consumption, and the impact of government appeals for conservation. The findings also reveal the extent to which households responded to changing market conditions, such as rising energy prices and the introduction of electricity and gas price caps. This project, prepared under the Interreg Europe programme, focuses on the transformation of the automotive industry in European regions, with an emphasis on implementing circular economy principles. Its aim is to support regional cooperation and the exchange of best practices during structural transitions in the automotive sector, particularly in the areas of battery recycling, the use of recycled materials and secondary raw materials in production, and the closure of material loops. The project will involve five partner countries, each forming national consortia to develop a joint strategic framework and action plans. Key project activities include socio-economic research, development of strategic theses, and support for specific circular economy initiatives in the automotive sector, with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency.
