Milan Bednář

He works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economic and Social Policy at the Faculty of Economics, Prague University of Economics and Business, where he has been engaged in academic work for several years, focusing on economic policy and macroeconomic analysis in the context of European Union countries.

In the past, Milan Bednář completed a study stay at the prestigious University of Queensland in Australia, which has consistently ranked highly in global university rankings. Since 2023, he has been a member of the International Association for Energy Economics.

As part of his academic work, he focuses on the analysis of macroeconomic phenomena and their impact on economic stability and policy, thereby providing valuable insights for both academia and practical economic policymaking. His professional contribution is particularly evident in the field of applied macroeconomics and macroeconomic analysis. Specifically, his research covers fiscal policies and government debt in the southern EU countries, issues related to the common euro currency, political and budgetary cycles, the economic synchronization of the Czech Republic with the euro area, and related topics.

Until 2022, he served as the Internationalization Coordinator of the Faculty of Economics at the Prague University of Economics and Business. He continues to coordinate professional internships for master’s students in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the OECD in Paris and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris. Since 2024, he has also held the position of Specialist for Doctoral Education.

Milan Bednář is actively involved in public debate and frequently provides commentary on current economic issues on Czech Television, CNN Prima News, and TV Nova. In 2023, he regularly published articles and commentaries in Lidové noviny, thereby contributing significantly to the popularization of research in the field of economic policy and enhancing public awareness of key economic issues.

Milan Bednář is the recipient of several awards. In 2020, during his doctoral studies, he received the Rector’s Award of the Prague University of Economics and Business for research publication activity. In 2023, he was awarded the Rector’s Award for a prestigious publication—an award granted by the university for outstanding scholarly work published in leading international journals and publishing houses. In the same year, Dr. Bednář also received the prestigious Josef Hlávka Award for his contributions to the field of economic policy.
