Ing. Jan Kozák, Ph.D., Spoke at the “Great Winston” Conference Held at the Faculty of Economics

Ing. Jan Kozák, Ph.D., delivered a professional presentation at the Great Winston conference, which took place at the Faculty of Economics on 28 November 2024 to mark the 150th anniversary of Winston Churchill’s birth. In his contribution, he focused on analysing Churchill’s economic policy decisions, with particular emphasis on their impact on the economic situation of the time and the broader context of his political legacy. He highlighted Churchill’s unique ability to combine pragmatic measures with long-term strategic vision.

Speeches delivered during the conference illustrated that Winston Churchill was:

  • A man of resolute will and indomitable spirit, who led Britain to victory during the darkest days of World War II.

  • A master of language and brilliant orator, whose speeches—such as “We Shall Fight on the Beaches”—inspired millions with resilience, courage, and determination.

  • A visionary statesman unafraid of unpopular decisions, firmly believing in the strength and values of democracy and freedom.

  • A complex figure: wartime leader, politician, writer, historian, and Nobel Prize laureate in literature—who, despite his shortcomings, remains one of the greatest leaders of the modern era.
